ALTHOUGH FUSION TWR IN BRISTOL OFFICIALLY OPENS IN SEPTEMBER 2015, WE’RE SURE YOU WANT TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING THE MOST OUT OF THIS FANTASTIC CITY. SO WHY NOT COME FOR A DAY TRIP OVER THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS? YOU CAN EVEN BRING FRIENDS THAT WON’T BE STUDENTS AT BRISTOL UNIVERSITY OR UWE THIS YEAR AND USE THE TRIP AS A PRE-FRESHERS HANGOUT TO FIGURE OUT THE KEY LANDMARKS.

If you’re in town for the day, here are some places to check out:

M SHED MUSEUM

Find out more about your new city in one handy location. This new museum, right on the harbour side, shows you Bristol’s story from prehistoric times to present day. If there’s something you want to know about Bristol, you’ll be sure to find it there. Plus, imagine the facts you’ll have to hand should you end up at a pub quiz with your mates.

BANK ON BANKSY

One thing that you can rely on is an impressive amount of Banksy’s original street art. As Bristol is Banksy’s hometown, you’ll see some of his most famous images first hand. Discovering them accidently as you wander through Bristol’s streets can be very exciting, however you’ll probably see more on a guided tour. Check out this Banksy walking tour to really find the best sights.

STAY ON YOUR FEET

Take in some summer sun around Bristol’s greener parts while it’s still warm. Go for a walk just outside the city where you’ll find the Ashton Court Estate. At this stunning Bristol landmark, you’ll find an amazing view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge alongside over 850 acres of woods and loads of fun activities.

OR GET ON YOUR BIKE

Did you know that Bristol was named England’s first “cycling city” in 2008? Well you do now, so bring a bike (or rent one) and find one of the many cycle paths winding through the city. You’ll discover much more of Bristol than you may on foot and come September, Fusion Students get free loan bikes when you move in with us.

ST NICHOLAS MARKET

University is a chance to try out a new look or new style. So with this in mind stock up on your new wardrobe at some of the little shops at St Nicholas Market. Pick up some beautiful finds at the vintage clothes and jewellery shops. Plus while you’re there, try out some of the delicious food from the many cute cafes and food stalls.
