IT’S JUNE AND THE SUN IS FINALLY STARTING TO MAKE A PROPER APPEARANCE – HOORAY, WE MIGHT HAVE A SUMMER AFTERALL!

That said, we’ve handpicked a selection of things to do in Bristol this month and packed them into a neat little list for your convenience (you’re welcome).

1. BIKE FEST, SAT 13TH JUNE, ASHTON COURT

Fancy yourself a bit of a mountain biker? Then head down to Ashton Court this Saturday for the Ritchey Bristol Bike Fest.

This event is a permanent fixture on the UK biking calendar and has been popular with riders nationwide since it first began 14 years ago.

Racing starts from 9:00am on Saturday, so you might want to bring your camping gear and camp out over night from 5:00pm Friday.

2. BRISTOL’S BIG GREEN WEEK, SAT 13TH – SUN 21ST JUNE, ACROSS BRISTOL

Celebrate Bristol being named the UK’s first ever European Green Capital!

The massive BIG Green Week festival is back with 120 free events in the centre of town.

This year the festival aims to inspire love for the future, and there’s something for everyone; whether you’re a “culture vulture” or a DIY fanatic.

3. FESTIVAL OF NATURE, SAT 13TH – SUN 14TH JUNE, HARBOURSIDE

Appreciating nature and wildlife is something we sometimes forget to do and we often take advantage of our beautiful surroundings.

Bristol’s Festival of Nature is the UK’s largest celebration of the natural world.

Over 150 organisations come together for a programme packed with live entertainment, interactive activities and a market packed with local produce.

4. MUSICAL: LOVE ME TENDER,MON 15TH – SAT 20TH JUNE, BRISTOL HIPPODROME

If like us you love the musical Hairspray, and others such as Jersey Boys and West Side Story, then this feel-good musical from the same producers is for you.

Set in a small American town in the 1950s, the hilarious Love Me Tender is a tale of hope, second chances and Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The musical features some of Elvis Presley’s greatest hits and is packed with 25 of his best loved songs such as Hound Dog and Blue Suede Shoes.

5. APEROL SPRITZ SOCIAL, THURS 18TH – SAT 20TH, ANCHOR SQUARE, HARBOURSIDE

Head down to Anchor Square for Aperol Spritz’s takeover with their Social Pop-Up bar, featuring a special set from Radoio 1 DJ Clara Amfo.

Catch up with friends and enjoy the sunshine while listening to a socially powered playlist.

Take instant photos in the Instaprint booth, embark on a treasure hunt and have fun with a game of ping-pong or foosball!

6. BRISTOL SKYRIDE, SUN 21ST JUNE, BRISTOL CITY CENTRE

It’s no secret that Bristol is a great place to cylce, with it being named England’s first official cycling city back in 2008.

So hop on your bike and enjoy music and entertainment along the way for a festival atmosphere.

There’s also a Bike Cafe where you can grab a coffee and a bite to eat after the 4 mile ride!

Just be sure to register in advance to save time on the day.

7. THE TED BUNDY PROJECT, TUES 23RD – SAT 27TH JUNE, BRISTOL OLD VIC STUDIO

[Editor’s Choice] This powerful project is the result of Greg Wohead’s discovery of confession tapes from notorious American serial killer, Ted Bundy.

Born from a curiosity about the nature of charm, the label of ‘monster’ and the tension between attraction and repulsion, this solo show has been described as a “dare to our dark side”.

The whole performance simply consists of Greg armed with a wig, a bit of rope and a host of Youtube videos of the confession tapes.

Showings begin at 7:30pm and tickets are £12.

8. BRISTOL SUMMER SERIES, WEDS 24TH – SAT 27TH JUNE, AMPITHEATRE, HARBOURSIDE

Grab tickets to see George Ezra, Kaiser Chiefs, Seasick Steve and Jessie J as well as other special guests before they sell out!

The festival first launched last year and has returned for round two after proving to be a success.

9. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, THURS 25TH JUNE, BRISTOL ZOO GARDENS

Watch Shakespeare’s famous play come to life in this enchanting display packed with star crossed lovers, playful fairies and woodland puppet creatures.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company brings this romantic comedy to the beautiful Bristol Zoo Gardens, with an array of beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes and a magical musical score.

10. DRAWING AND PAINTING DAY, SAT 27TH JUNE, LEIGH WOODS

Go down to the woods for a magical day of painting.

Bring along your own materials and channel your inner artist in the picturesque Leigh Woods.

Professional artist Moira Gillbrook will be on hand with tips and advice.

The event welcomes beginners or those more experienced.
