I woke up on a Sunday morning. Everything was so grey.
As I suffer from Grey Weather Syndrome my first thought was to stay home, die from tea over hydration and watch movies on my laptop.

But we have to always try and go against depression even though it seems difficult at first.
Thus I checked what was up in Bristol and the’ Psychogeographic Fun Run’ caught my attention. It was an event at the Centrespace Gallery with the theme: ’Exploring the City of Bristol in a playful, abstract, manner.’
So I struggled for an hour and a half to get out of bed, rode my 50-year-old bicycle and went there… (of course I changed clothes my pajamas are too weird)
I arrived at the gallery, they handed me a map, a pen and a piece of orange paper with the instructions.

And the game went like this:

  • Ask someone for directions to the nearest pub. (it was 11 in the morning hahaha)
  • Find a set of traffic lights, if red go back, if green go straight on.
  • Head north.
  • Take third right.
  • Find a post box.
  • Go downhill.
  • Head in the direction of the loudest noise you can hear.
  • Find water.
  • Find a set of traffic lights, if red go back, if green go straight on.
  • Follow the next person you see with blue shoes.
  • You have 45mins, GO!

And my story went like this:

You know when you have this feeling that someone is following you? I can assure you the blue-shoes-guy definitely felt that very intensely.

It was so much fun because during my top secret mission I was seeing other participants on different missions of the game running behind moving buses, following people with backpacks, running around lost and stalking more guys with blue shoes… Except from one person that I found chilling at the Castle park drinking his Sprite (?!).
At the end, we gathered back in the gallery, shared our weird stories and drew the routs we took.

And then the hardest part of the game… We all had to go to the pub, drink beers and eat burgers! Oh my God what a challenge!! Beers? On a Sunday? Too good to be true.

Tip of the day: Always go against the Grey Weather in England! You never know where you might end up…
