MEET THE FOUNDER OF BRITE DRINKS

18 Sep 2020 | Student Life

Whilst studies have shown that there are a lot of health benefits associated with drinking coffee, consuming large amounts of caffeine has been linked to sleep deprivation, anxiety and nausea. This is where Brite Drinks comes in. Together with leading nutritionists they have created Europe’s first natural nootropic drink, aptly named ‘Liquid Focus’. In this Q&A we asked co-founder Simas Jarasunas, what the driving force was behind him starting Brite Drinks and how he overcomes setbacks. Here’s what he had to say…

Tell us about your business?

At Brite we make natural nootropic drinks for better focus and productivity. Our Liquid Focus is made of nature’s superfoods and contains the perfect blend of natural nootropics to keep you focused and productive throughout the day. That’s why we call it Liquid Focus!

What was the driving force for you to start your business?

I spent 3 years developing Liquid Focus based on my experience as a professional swimmer, where I found that mental performance was overlooked in sports and in everyday life. I used to work long hours while drinking coffee to stay productive throughout the day. It was a few cups too many, causing jitters and lack of focus. So, together with my co-founder Andrius, we started looking for a more effective alternative without the negative side effects.

What are your businesses’ core values?

We keep our mission in mind, which is to bring mental clarity and performance to the modern consumer. Innovation, transparency and sustainability are always at the core of our business. To create Liquid Focus, we have sourced the most effective nature’s superfoods that provide noticeable functional benefits. All our packaging is 100% recyclable and plastic-free. I believe that sticking to your core values not only brings a positive change, but also speeds up the decision-making process.

How do you overcome setbacks?

Anytime you do something new, you will not be an expert immediately. If we know that we gave it our best and still made a mistake, we do not dwell on it, we learn and focus on the thing that matters the most right now.

If you had one piece of advice for students setting out their own business, what would it be?

Do one thing that matters most today to get one step closer to your goal. Inaction is the only thing that can result in long-term regret and feelings.

Are there any other brands within your sector that you are following at the moment?

Hiut Denim, they make one thing well, they make jeans in Wales. Yet, it is a brand with a strong purpose and a great story. I have learned a lot about entrepreneurship from their founder David Hieatt.

What has your biggest achievement been so far?

We have just launched in April and despite all the challenges including the lockdown, now our Liquid Focus is available at multiple locations internationally and across the UK, including Planet Organic in London.
