Are you finding yourself losing concentration in lectures or forgetting notes you literally just revised? Then it’s time to get your focus back on track, and one surprising way to do that is with brain food. That’s right, your brain needs looking after so you can fly through university and boost your focus! Here’s the top 10 brain foods to get you on your focused way:

1. Tomatoes

Are they a fruit? Are they a vegetable? It doesn’t matter, because these bundles of red deliciousness are packed with brain goodness. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that is found in abundance in tomatoes. It helps to protect against radical damage to cells that can lead to dementia.

If that isn’t enough to inspire you to order extra tomatoes on your pizza, then maybe being full of all of these will:

• Potassium, copper, and iron

• Vitamins C, K, E, and A

• Fibre

 

2. Blueberries

Blueberries – or shall we say brainberries – are your go-to source of vitamin C and fibre. The best thing about blueberries is that they’re easily available, so there’s no excuse not to get your berry fix.

Research has suggested that this tasty fruit is effective at improving short-term memory. You know what that means, right? It’ll work wonders when you’re powering through last-minute revision!

 

3. Eggs

We’re not yolking around; eggs are cracking for your brain! Yolks contain large amounts of choline, which helps with brain development. Full to the shell with protein, whether you have them as a snack or main meal, they’re an egg-cellent source of brain nutrition.

 

4. Walnuts

We’re not saying go nuts and start cracking walnuts all day… You actually only need a few walnuts to improve your cognitive health. This crunchy snack is high in antioxidants and vitamins, which help to improve mental alertness.

Being dehydrated can impact your memory abilities – so before you give up on revision, get yourself a nice cold glass of H2O.
