4 OF THE BEST EATS IN AND AROUND HATFIELD
From modern Turkish eateries to classic British pubs, there are some great places to eat in and around Hatfield. No problem if you’re on a student budget, there are plenty of options for you to dine out on the cheap!
Harpsfield Hall, Hatfield
Favourite dish? Veggie burger
Who doesn’t love a trip to a Wetherspoons? The well-known chain pub is a definite go-to amongst the people of Hatfield, especially in the student community! Harpsfield Hall has a lively and friendly atmosphere, welcoming people of all ages. With cheap dishes and drinks, it’s a money savers paradise. Plus, there are always deals on to help save you even more money. Don’t want to queue at the bar? No problem, you can use the Wetherspoons app to order your food and drinks without leaving the table. All your needs are catered for at Spoons! Whether you fancy a hearty breakfast with friends, a catch up over a drink in the beer garden or a pre-drinks at the bar, it’s all there for you to enjoy.
Turkish Kitchen, Hatfield
Favourite dish? Sigara borek, sauteed potatoes and kings prawns
Whenever I’m looking for a change, or something a little bit more exciting to eat for dinner, Turkish Kitchen is the way to go. Although a little on the dearer side, it is certainly worth the money. Whether you are heading for a proper sit-down meal in their beautifully decorated restaurant, or enjoying a takeaway from the comfort of your own home, Turkish Kitchen never fails to deliver. The prawns are always perfectly cooked and the sauce that accompanies it is to die for! Despite my love of prawns, sigara borek is certainly my favourite. This traditional pastry, filled with feta cheese and spinach, makes the perfect side dish/accompaniment.
Whilst the food is delicious, the fantastic service is the other reason why I keep returning here. The team are extremely accommodating and always happy to help. Safe to say, Turkish Kitchen will be one of my go to’s and favourite restaurants in the future.
Macaroni, Potters Bar
Favourite dish? Raviolli al pesto
Who isn’t a sucker for a classic Italian? The pesto ravioli, filled with mozzarella and pesto, is coated in one of the creamiest sauces I’ve ever eaten. Pair the dish with their focaccia rosmarino (garlic bread) and you’re in for a real taste of Italy! The restaurant has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with charming and rustic decor that will truly make you feel as if you are sat in a small Italian café. For my Mum’s birthday last year we visited Macaroni with over 20 members of our family. The staff provided great table service and ensured that we had a wonderful experience. If you love Italian food a fancy a bit of escapism, give Macaroni a visit!
Thai Rack, St. Albans
Favourite dish? Aromatic duck
This traditionally decorated, family-run restaurant offers deliciously authentic Thai cuisine. With over 72 options to choose from on the menu, you are bound to find something you enjoy! I know, sounds a little daunting, but I can guarantee you that Thai Rack will not disappoint. On a recent visit with friends, we decided to order a selection of dishes to share. Our self made buffet was so tasty and appetising! Upon posting a video on my social media, I was asked multiple times where it was from. Whilst it’s hard to decide on a favourite dish, the duck is easily one of the best I’ve tried.
Moe’s Peri Peri Grill, Hatfield
Favourite dish? Butterfly chicken, creamy mash and sweet potato fries
Anybody who lives in Hatfield or the remaining area will know about Moe’s Peri Grill. With dishes likened to Nando’s, but with a cheaper price tag, it is safe to say that it is a definite favourite of mine. Never having visited the actual restaurant, my boyfriend and I decided to try out the takeaway service, and we did not regret it! I ordered more or less the same dish that I would get from Nando’s and I have to say, it might even be better. Could that be because of the cheaper price tag or the taste? Maybe both!
